Call your mama folks and let her know what you're doing!
People who don't stay in touch, stress their loved ones out and stress me out. Usually when I come out of the gathering, I have an overwhelming number of email messages from people who are concerned about someone they love. I don't want to have to respond to a hundred emails that go something like this:
My son/daughter/husband/wife/grandmother/grandfather went to the gathering and promised to call me every day. I'm afraid something happened to them.
If you don't want to call, send a text, email, or letter. Or get a friend to send a text, email, or letter. Everytime a worried mama files a missing person's report, we get law enforcement wandering around the gathering trying to "find" you. Don't be that person.
My first gathering was the national in 2007 in Ozark forest in Arkansas. I went on a town run with some dirty kids and, after I used my cell phone to call my mom from town, almost everyone in the car asked to borrow it so they could call their parents/loved ones. It was a really lovely reminder that all of us, no matter how tough we act, have someone somewhere who thinks about us and wants to know that we are safe.
ReplyDeleteOr- let me do it!! Just ask on the Call Your Mom FB page and we will call your mom, dad, grandma, wife, kids- we will even sing happy birthday to them for you!! No reason to worry the fam when you have people offering to pick up the phone FOR you!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are huge foodies that recently moved from NYC, so we are big on fine dining and were worried that the food would not meet our expectation. But this place had the most amazing food.
